The Medicine Department focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad range of adult medical conditions, including:

• Hypertension, Infectious Diseases: Malaria, Dengue, Typhoid Fever, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis.

• Respiratory Disorders: COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia.

• Metabolic & Renal Disorders: Diabetes, Acute and Chronic Renal Failure.

Specialized Units & Facilities

1. Dialysis Unit

• Purpose: Provides life-sustaining haemodialysis for patients with Acute and Chronic Renal Failure.

• Key Features: Well-equipped unit with dedicated doctors and specially trained nursing staff present with the patient throughout the entire procedure.

2. Diabetic Clinic

• Approach: Integrated management combining medication/insulin, dietary intervention, patient education, and lifestyle modification.

• Multidisciplinary Team: Dedicated physician, certified diabetes counselor, clinical dietician, physiotherapist, and cross-specialty support (ophthalmology, surgery, orthopedics).

• Focus: Prevention, management of chronic complications, and family counseling/support.

3. Pain & Palliative Care

• Purpose: Symptom and pain management to improve the quality of life for terminally ill patients and support their families.

• Key Distinction: The only center within a 200 km radius providing comprehensive palliative care and morphine administration.

• Team: Doctors, specialized nurses, chaplain/counselor, and physiotherapists offering patient care and family caregiver training.

4. Integrated Counseling and Testing Center (ICTC)

• Focus: Voluntary and physician-referred HIV counseling and testing.

• Services: Full-time counselor providing risk-reduction education, pre/post-test counseling, and direct linkage to broader HIV care, prevention, and treatment services.

5. Nutrition & Dietary Department

• Services: Individualized inpatient and outpatient clinical dietary consultations, plus group educational sessions (diabetes, hypertension, ANC, weight management).

• Scope: Tailored nutritional care for diabetes, hypertension, oncology, nephrology, pediatrics, critical care, antenatal care (ANC), and anemia.
